Collaboration and Discovery

An Incubator for Collaboration & Discovery

The scientific community has long recognised that discovery occurs where there is collaboration and interaction between specialist disciplines. It is also achieved through strong academic partnerships supported by a robust commercial understanding.

PACE offers a unique collaborative model:

  • Combining research, education, clinical practice and industry.
  • Australian-first embracing the traditional and developing pharmacy industries, encompassing pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences, nutraceuticals (healthy foods), biotechnology and pharmacy practice.
  • Practical co-location via high level site connectivity, not only between facilities within the PACE campus, but via innovative design-led connectivity between PACE and the neighbouring Translational Research Institute and the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Special features…

    • Unique shared spaces and infrastructure – lecture rooms, meeting rooms and eating spaces, enabling industry partners to have unparalleled access to researchers at the cutting edge of pharmaceutical innovations
  • Industry partners as active participants in seminars and workshops
  • UQ-led high-level discussions across the site with leading researchers and educationalists
  • On-site, real-time access to expertise in crucial areas for drug development, such as dosage form design and basic drug discovery, through to pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, pre-clinical studies, modelling and simulation for clinical studies, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology and clinical trial design, through to health service evaluation and post-marketing surveillance.

PACE signifies a new era for the pharmacy profession’s outstanding contribution to a positive future for human health. This world class facility paves the way for the pioneering of new drug discoveries and treatments and valuable research into the optimal use of medicines - work that can saves lives and ease the global health burden.

Co-location will lead to a faster path to market by enabling advanced level discussions with world leaders at formal and informal levels.
